Bob Smith ~ Trumpet
After playing with the Escorts and Showmen during the middle '60's, I
joined the Esquires in the summer of 1969. Later that fall, I attended
W.V.I.T. where I majored in music. The most significant musical training
was playing lead trumpet in the jazz band. I have been teaching since
graduating in 1973, and received a master's degree from Marshall
University. In the early '70's, I heard Stan Kenton, Buddy Rich, Woody
Herman, Count Basie and Maynard Ferguson. What I learned from these
incredible musicians was that playing music is a lot like life. Each
person is an individual!!!
