Washington - Vocals ~ Guitar
I am a vocalist with the band and a sometime guitarist, pianist, and bass
player. I have been with the band since 1994. I was a member of AFM
Local136 when I joined the Esquires, and have been ever since. I have
received my Masters degree from Marshall University in Jazz Studies. I
have taught at Marshall as a grad assistant and an adjunct professor for
the Jazz Improvisation class. I play with the Bill Spurlock jazz
orchesstra, with the faculty jazz group Bluetrane at Marshall, and have
played gigs with Wynton Marsailes, Bob Thompson, Bill Prince, Marvin
Stamm, Terry Gibbs, Alvin Batiste, Jerry Coker, Joe Pocarro, Marty
Erickson, and more. I have sung with the Huntington Pops under the
direction of Richard Haymen (formerly of the Boston Pops). I was awarded
Outstanding recognition as a vocalist at the jazz festival at Elhurst
College in Chicago. I have performed solo, duet, and trio gigs as a
guitarist.
